Lenzen Scores as Women’s Ice Hockey Comes Up Short at Huskies

GORHAM, Maine – The New England College women's ice hockey team lost 3-1 at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday in Gorham, Maine in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Huskies got two goals from sophomore forward Madison Chagnon (Saint Albans, Vt.) and a third from freshman forward Saige MacLeod (Dryden, Ont.).
  • The 'Grims got on the board with 2:01 left in the game when junior forward Emily Lenzen (Littleton, Colo.) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season, assisted by graduate defender Kaylee Cross(Arvada, Colo.).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC sophomore goalie Thea Joerö (Uppsala, Sweden) tallied 30 saves on the day, while USM sophomore goalie Ellie Fredenburg (Cambridge, Mass.) finished with 19 saves.
  • The Huskies outshot the 'Grims, 33-20.

UP NEXT

  • NEC plays their next game on Friday when they host Elmira College in a 6:00 p.m. game.
  • The Huskies will conclude the regular season with a home-and-home NEHC series with Salem State next weekend. The first game of the series will be Friday night at Salem State at 6:00 p.m.
