SALEM, Mass. – The New England College women's ice hockey team lost 2-0 at Salem State University on Friday evening at Rockett Arena in Salem, Massachusetts in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Salem State senior forward Carolyn Mahoney (Melrose, Mass.) scored the first goal of the game 9:23 into the first, assisted by senior defender Gianna Beauclair (Stoneham, Mass.) and freshman forward Cecelia Curtin (Montpelier, Vt.) to put the Vikings up 1-0.
With 11:40 left in the third period and still holding on to a 1-0 lead, Salem State junior defender Brenna Greene (Haverhill, Mass.) capitalized on a power play to put her team up by two, assisted by Beauclair and graduate defender Catherine Lawrence (Guilford, Conn.). That would hold up for the final score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

NEC senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) tallied 32 saves on the night in arguably her best performance of the season, with a .941 save percentage.
Salem State senior goalie Hannah Aveni (Melrose, Mass.) recorded 35 stops for the win.
Total shots were 35-34 in favor of the Pilgrims.
