GENEVA, N.Y. – The New England College women's ice hockey team lost 8-0 at Willliam Smith College on Friday evening at the Cooler in Geneva, New York, in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hobart senior defender Lauren Jackson (Natick, Mass.) and senior forward Emma Faso (Clarence Center, N.Y.) each finished with two goals while senior forwards Izzy Friedman (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Mia LaPlante (Framingham, Mass.) and junior forwards Mackenzie O'Neil (Wellesley, Mass.) and Brittany Foster (Danvers, Mass.) also found the back of the net in a balanced scoring effort by the Herons.
  • The Pilgrims fell behind 4-0 in the first period, and never threatened.
  • NEC freshman defender Gabrielle Iwinski (Batavia, Ill.) was one of just two 'Grims to record three shots on goal for the night.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC sophomore goalie Thea Joerö (Uppsala, Sweden) tallied 22 saves between the pipes for the Pilgrims, before senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) entered the game in relief and stopped 16 of 19 shots.
  • William Smith junior goalie Annie Hauser (White Plains, N.Y.) recorded 16 stops for the Herons for the shutout.
  • Total shots were 73-28 in favor of William Smith.
