HOW IT HAPPENED

Southern Maine dominated time-of-possession in the first period while rattling off 16 shots. NEC senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) kept the Huskies off the board for the first 18:22 until a goal by sophomore forward Madison Chagnon (Saint Albans, Vt.) gave USM the lead.

Momentum began to swing towards NEC as the team had several good scoring chances, but it was USM who found the back of the net to expand their lead to 2-0.

The visitors would add two more goals in the final period on their way to a 4-0 shutout.

Podvey set a career-high with 45 saves for the Pilgrims. Her previous personal best was 42 saves in a win over Anna Maria on November 16th, 2021.

Huskies' junior goalkeeper Haley McKim (Moncton, New Brunswick) collected 22 saves en route to the shutout.
