HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's ice hockey team fell to visiting UMass-Boston on Friday at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • With just 1:00 to go in the first period, NEC senior forward Cassie Kelly (Alexandria, MN) got the scoring started with a power-play goal assisted by Olivia Lindberg (Enkoping, Sweden) to put the 'Grims on top early.
  • The Beacons responded with three unanswered goals scored by freshman forward Emily Hansen (Lake Villa, Ill.), sophomore defender Margeaux Butters (Snohomish, WA), and sophomore forward Allie Reifler (Binghamton, N.Y.) to surge into the lead..

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) compiled 37 saves for the Pilgrims
  • Beacons freshman goalkeeper Leah Bosch (Minnetonka, MN) finished with 22 saves.
  • Kelly has started the season on fire for the 'Grims having scored a goal in each of the team's first three games.
  • UMass-Boston outshot NEC 40-23.
  • This was the 40th all-time meeting between the two programs.
