Women’s Ice Hockey Falls in OT to Lancers

WORCESTER, Mass. – The New England College women's ice hockey team lost 2-1 at Worcester State in overtime on Friday night at Fidelity Bank Ice Arena in Worcester, Massachusetts in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Worcester State graduate forward Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) scored her team-high seventh goal of the season with nine seconds left in the first period to put the Lancers ahead 1-0.
  • The 'Grims scored the equalizer just 2:13 into the second period as NEC freshman forward Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.) scored her first career goal.
  • With just 1:11 left in overtime, the game appeared destined for a draw when Conway again found the back of the net for a 2-1 Lancers victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) tallied a career-high 45 saves in net for the 'Grims.
  • WSU senior goalie Amber Lee (Fairlawn, N.J.) finished with 43 stops.
  • Shots were 47-44 in favor of Worcester State.
