Women’s Ice Hockey Goes 2-0 For First Time Since 2009

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's ice hockey team won 6-2 over visiting Neumann University on Saturday afternoon at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in non-conference action. With the victory, the Pilgrims are 2-0 to start their season for the first time since the 2009-2010 season, when they started 3-0.

TOP PILGRIMS

  • NEC junior forward AK Fuentes (Aspen, Colo.) led the 'Grims with two goals and an assist, including scoring the eventual game-winner just 5:27 into the second period.  
  • NEC freshman forward Olivia Lindberg (Enkoping, Sweden) added two goals on the day. In just her first two collegiate games, Lindberg already has three points.
  • NEC junior forward Emily Lenzen (Littleton, Colo.), last season's leading scorer, scored one goal and assisted on three others.
  • NEC senior forward Cassie Kelly (Alexandria, Minn.), the scorer of the Pilgrims' game-winning goal on Friday night, continued her hot play with a goal and an assist on Saturday. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) earned her second win behind 19 saves.
  • Neumann senior goalie Michelle Winand-Bacon (Emeryville, Ontario) posted 47 saves.
  • Team shots were 53-21 in favor of the 'Grims.
  • This was the most goals NEC has scored in a game since their victory against Anna Maria (2/1/2020).
