HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the first period, Plymouth controlled the action early on, as the Panthers outshot the Pilgrims 16-3 in the first 20 minutes, but NEC also killed off three PSU powerplays. The two teams finished the first frame deadlocked.
In the second and third periods, neither team was able to get anything going, as both netminders stood tall in goal. Olivia Petito had 13 saves in the second and third frame, while Cianna Weir recorded 27.
The two teams would head into an overtime period, as the Panthers controlled play in the early portion due to a carry-over powerplay. NEC would complete the penalty kill, and then have a two-on-zero breakaway, but could not capitalize.
