Box Score HENNIKER, NH – Despite a 47 save performance from Cianna Weir, the New England College women's ice hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision, Friday evening at Lee Clement Arena.
The Pilgrims drop to 0-4-1 on the young season, while the Hawks move to 2-3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game had a slow start as neither team was able to establish much offense and there was a lot of back and forth play. Becker was able to get a couple of breakaway opportunities just over halfway through the period but each one was turned aside by goaltender Cianna Weir. The Hawks picked up a powerplay opportunity with just over five minutes to play in the period but the Pilgrims were able to successfully kill the penalty to keep the game scoreless. Becker was able to get some shots off at the end of the period but were again unable to score as the first period closed at 0-0.
Not much changed in the second period but the Hawks were able to control the puck more as they started to establish some offense. Despite the effort though the game remained scoreless halfway through the period. Becker picked up another powerplay opportunity late in the period as they were able to get some good shots off one even rung the pipe but they came out scoreless yet again. At the end of two periods, the Hawks led New England College 36-16 in shots on goal but the score held at 0-0 heading into the final frame of play.
Each team upped their pressure in the third period as Becker was able to break the scoring drought with a goal about three minutes in to claim a 1-0 lead. About a minute later the Pilgrims picked up a powerplay opportunity as they looked to tie things up. However, the Hawks were able to kill the penalty despite some quality scoring opportunities from New England College. Neither team was able to get much going for the rest of the game as Becker was able to take home a 1-0 win.
GOALTENDERS
Weir made 47 saves in the contest on 48 shots on goal while for the Hawks, Amber Lee recorded 25 stops in the shutout win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-The all-time series now moves to 4-1-1 in favor of Becker.
-Emily Lenzen won 18 of her 24 faceoffs as she went 75 percent on the night.
-Neither team was able to capitalize on the power play, as Becker went 0-4 while NEC was 0-1.
