Women's Ice Hockey Drops Season Opener

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England College Women's Ice Hockey team fell in their 2021-22 season opener to Johnson & Wales University, 8-0, in New England Hockey Conference action, Friday Evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Johnson & Wales went on the attack from the opening puck drop. The Wildcats struck just under the halfway mark of the first period. Madison Matrasko scored 8:56 into the opening 20 minutes. The Wildcats were able to tack on another goal before the end of the first, making it 2-0.

JWU came out firing in the second period, as they struck four times, before scoring two more times in the third period.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Emily Lenzen won the majority of the faceoffs tonight, as she won 10 of her 14 draws.
