HOW IT HAPPENED
Anna Maria was the first team to score, as they broke through just over five minutes into the contest. Abigail Vigliotte got Anna Maria on the board, as she was able to receive the pass to the middle of the slot, and wrist the shot into the top left corner of the cage. NEC got on the board with just under five minutes remaining in the first period, as Isabella Borski's slapshot beat the AMCats' netminder between the left pad and the glove. Three minutes later, the Pilgrims took the lead, as Meaghan McCamish jammed home her first collegiate goal at 18:12 of the first.
The two teams would not score in the middle frame, as both sides fired nine shots. Just over seven minutes into the third, Emily Lenzen doubled the New England College lead, as her slapshot from the top of the right circle beat the AMC keeper to the top left corner of the net. Anna Maria would make things interesting, as they got within one, with just under five minutes left in regulation. AMC pulled their netminder with 1:38 left in regulation for the extra skater, but the 'Grims defense held strong, as they blocked two shots and Podvey recorded two saves to seal the win for the Pilgrims.
