Natasha Hawkins combine for six-points, as the New England College women's ice hockey team defeated Anna Maria College 6-2 in non-conference action on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon.
The Pilgrims are now 3-17-1 on the season, while the AMCats fall to 2-15-1.

HOW IT HAPPENEDThe Pilgrims opened the game with a goal from
Mikayla Vincent just under two minutes in. The goal was Vincent's first of her career and
Meghan Moore picked up the assist. New England College dominated play in the first as they outshot the AMCats 16-5. Despite the offensive prowess, the Pilgrims were unable to find the back of the net again in the period. Anna Maria had limited efforts but all were turned away as the 1-0 score held at the close of the period.
The slower play carried into the second but the AMCats broke the scoring drought eight minutes in to tie things up at 1-1. New England College would respond a few minutes later as they reclaimed the lead off a
Tara Turcotte goal assisted by
Julia Radcliffe and
Cortney Reyes. With under five minutes to play the Pilgrims added two more over the next 36 seconds to build a 4-1 lead that would hold going into the final period of play.
Madison Nipper scored the first and
Ally Freeman scored followed suit scoring right after.
After the late scoring in the second-period things slowed down as neither side was able to get much going for the majority of the period. Anna Maria was able to cut the lead to 4-2 with just over two minutes to play. That score would hold until the very end of the game when New England College added two more in the final 30 seconds of play.
Cortney Reyes scored the first and Turcotte the second as the Pilgrims came away with a 6-2 victory.
GOALTENDERSHannah Podvey made 22 saves as she earned the victory. Julia Smith picked up 26 saves in the contest for the AMCats.
