Box Score 2 QUINCY, Mass. The 2019 New England College softball team's historic season comes to a close in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) softball championship series to the hands of Eastern Nazarene at Mitchell/McCoy Field.

How it HappenedGame One Eastern Nazarene 3, New England College 1Game one was a pitcher's duel in the early going, but the Lions were able to break through in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rebecca Ashman drove in the first run of the game, as her bunt was able to squeeze through the left side of the infield. Rebecca Hayner drove in two more in the sixth for ENC, with her single that dropped into left-center field.
New England College threatened in the top of the seventh inning, as
Daelyn Ross scampered home on a wild pitch.
Taylor Barbour got the start for the Pilgrims and struck out eight batters, but allowed just one earned run.
Game Two Eastern Nazarene 11, New England College 2Destiny Helmedach started game two with a bang, as the sophomore launched a two-run home run over the 20' high left field fence. In the bottom half of the inning, Lauren Clements responded with a two-run homer of her own to tie the game.
In the bottom of the second, the Lions took the lead scoring four runs in the inning, capped off by a three-run shot off the bat of Kiley Ozaki. Eastern Nazarene pushed their lead to 9-2 after a three-run fourth, before ending the game on another home run from Ozaki.
Inside the Numbers - This was the 41st and 42nd meeting all-time between the two teams. New England College still holds a 28-14 advantage in the series.
