Grimes Earns GNAC Second Team All-Conference

HENNIKER, N.H. - Sophomore first baseman Abigail Grimes (Baltimore, Md.) of the New England College baseball team has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Second Team All-Conference, as voted on by conference coaches in an announcement by the league office on Tuesday. 

Grimes was a consistent contributor for the 'Grims all season, playing and starting all 37 games. She batted .333 with an on-base percentage of .399 and an overall OPS of .782. Grimes totaled 40 hits, just one shy of the team-lead, with six doubles. Batting in the three-hole, her 29 runs batted in was the team-best and ranked tied-for-12th in the GNAC. The sophomore added 11 walks, and 11 runs scored. Grimes ended the season with hits in seven of the team's final eight games with 10 RBIs across that span. 

In conference play, Grimes put up even better numbers with a .360/.404/.455 slash. She totaled 23 bases on 18 hits with 12 RBIs and five runs scored. Additionally, the first baseman ranked inside the top 10 in the conference in both sacrifice flies and hit-by-pitches. On defense, Grimes ranked third in the league with 226 put outs and 21st with a .983 fielding percentage.  

Sophomore outfielder Arianna Bayze (Temecula, Calif.) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
