Box Score 2 HENNIKER, N.H. After setting a new program record for wins in a season in game one, the New England College softball team rallies late to sweep Elms College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action at Old Concord Road Field Sunday afternoon.
With the win in game two, the Pilgrims lock up the number two seed in the upcoming NECC tournament.

How it HappenedGame One New England College 6, Elms College 2Game one was a pitching duel up until the fifth inning. New England College struck first, as
Emily Nelson beat the throw home on an Alice Faenza fielder's choice. Shawnie Clark would beat the shortstop's throw to the plate, making it 2-0. Chanel Welch made it 4-0, as the junior singled to right field, scoring a pair.
In the bottom of the fifth, Elms was able to get on the board. Kayla Doherty doubled to deep center field, scoring Tyla Risucci on the play. Katelyn Sylvia made it 4-2, as she singled home, Doherty. Rachel Senechal added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh as she singled, but two Elms errors on the play plated Alexa Scribner and Senechal.
Taylor Barbour tossed a complete game, scattering four hits and striking out nine.
Game Two New England College 6, Elms College 5NEC jumped out to the early lead once again, as Scribner scored on a Destiny Helmedach sacrifice fly. One batter later,
Daelyn Ross drove in Welch with a single up the middle making it 2-0 Pilgrims. New England College would plate two more in the top of the third inning, as Scribner scored on a ground out before Welch crossed the plate on a Ross single.
The Blazers would get on the board in the bottom of the third, as Sylvia hit a solo home run over the left-center field fence. Elms would tie the game in the sixth inning, as they scored three runs on five hits. In the top of the seventh inning, Welch singled home Scribner on a single to right field. Welch would score from second base as Ross flared a single to right field.
Emily Farone got the start for the Pilgrims going five innings, before getting lifted for Gabriella Marcheschi who picked up the win for NEC.
Inside the Numbers - This was the third all-time that these two schools and the first time since 2006, Elms leads the series 2-1.
- Alexa Scribner tied the NEC record for most steals in a single season with 21. The senior tied Marianne Nugent (1978) and Robin Thompson (2003-04)
- With their game one win, New England College broke the record for most wins in a single season.
