Women's Basketball Rolls Past Plymouth State, 91-38

Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. Four different Pilgrims eclipsed double-digit points, as the New England College women's basketball team picked up a 91-38 non-conference win over in-state foe Plymouth State University, Thursday evening.

With the win, the Pilgrims move to 5-3 on the year, while the Panthers drop to 3-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game started slowly with neither team able to consistently making baskets. There was a strong defensive presence on both sides as the score was pushed to 6-6 halfway through the first quarter. The Pilgrims then took a small 6-0 run to take a 12-6 lead and force a Panthers timeout. New England College kept their momentum and was able to close out the first quarter with a 20-9 lead.

The second quarter saw another slow start but things stayed in favor of New England College as they were able to extend their lead to 28-13 halfway through. The Pilgrims kept rolling as they were able to carry a convincing 45-18 lead into halftime. Ericka Pratt led NEC with 13 points through the half while Chenysse Hill and Alessia Salzillo each had six for Plymouth.

New England College opened up scoring in the second half with a three from Rene Hudson to increase the lead to 20. The third quarter closed with a 69-28 lead for the Pilgrims. New England College outscored the Panthers 22-10 in the final quarter to pull away for 91-38 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Rene Hudson had 22 points, 9 rebounds, and shot a perfect 6-6 on free throws.
-Ericka Pratt picked up 16 points and 6 rebounds.
-With the win, the Pilgrims improve to 20-6 all-time against Plymouth State.
-NEC held Plymouth State to 18.2% from the field. That is the lowest shooting percentage that the Pilgrims has held their opponents since they held Thomas to 17.5% back on Feb. 1, 2014.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims head to Franklin, Mass. for a New England Collegiate Conference match against Dean College. The game is set to take place on Saturday, December 7th at 1:00 pm.
