Don Melander Field

The Don Melander Turf Field was constructed in the spring of 2011 and is home to the field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s lacrosse teams.

The 7,300 square foot field is a state-of-the-art synthetic A-Turf field. A-Turf is a leading national supplier of synthetic grass fields, boasting fiber strands that stay upright and infill that stays in place, resulting in greater consistency, footing, and playability. A-Turf systems have the most fiber strands per yard ensuring less infill movement creating a more consistent playing surface. In addition to the actual fiber strands, A-Turf uses recycled rubber on many of the infill systems. In addition to a more constant and stable playing surface, the field is unaffected by adverse weather conditions eliminating the need for rain delays or postponements.

In addition to the varsity usage, the lighted turf field provides recreational space that can be utilized by club sports, recreational sports, academic classes, and individual users.  The turf is available to the public through facilities rentals.  If interested in renting please contact Holly Senay at hsenay@nec.edu for pricing and availability.
