TURNING POINTS
- Points were hard to come by for NEC as they only managed to score 13 points in the first quarter of action. At 4:54 senior guard Amya Moss (Norfolk, Va.) connected on a free throw that amounted to the 'Grims seventh point scored thus far while the Falcons had acquired 14. The next 2:26 NEC would be unable to come up with a bucket until junior forward Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) crashed into the lane for the layup at 2:28. During that stretch AMC recorded an 8-0 run that expanded their lead to 19-7. The remainder of the quarter was a much better performance defensively holding the Falcons to four points, but things were still in favor of AMC, 23-13.
- Moss of NEC got the second quarter started for the 'Grims converting on a layup to shorten the deficit to seven points with 9:06 left, 23-15. The next points for NEC wouldn't come until 6:25 mark where freshman guard Destiny Kim (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) made one of her shots from the charity stripe, but the Falcons were still in front by 10, 26-16. A few buckets were made by the Falcons afterwards that resulted in four points gathered. At 5:13 junior guard Macy Gordon (Boscawen, N.H.) would splash a three pointer and shortly after sophomore forward Camryn Lewis (Taunton, Mass.) would make a layup resulting in the 'Grims collecting five points to get the deficit down to nine points, 30-21 with 4:21 remaining. Things would begin to drift away from the 'Grims as the defense of AMC began to do its damage with NEC only able to muster two points out of the remainder of the quarter while the Falcons scored 12, 46-25.
- NEC tried to get their offense rolling early on in the third quarter scoring the first four points but the Falcons would respond by scoring nine more points, 55-29 at 5:46. The Falcons continued to keep their foot on the gas as they didn't allow NEC any breathing room to get back into the game within the quarter tacking on an additional 13 points to cement a 25 point lead, 68-43.
- From there on the Falcons had proved to be too much for NEC leaving no room to come back in the game. NEC did manage to outscore AMC 16-11 in the quarter, but the damage was already inflicted well before the fourth quarter resulting in a win for the Falcons on the afternoon, 79-59.
