Box Score MARSHFIELD, Mass. The New England College Pilgrims women's basketball team earned a tie for second place in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) preseason poll, as announced by the league office on Friday morning.
The Pilgrims earned 76 points overall and two first place votes. Becker College finished first in the poll with 89 points and four first place votes. Eastern Nazarene College also earned 76 points but had three first place votes. Newbury College had 70 points and Dean College had 61 points to round out the top five.
Erica Ledy returns for her 17
th season as the head coach of the New England College Pilgrims women's basketball team. The Pilgrims are returning all five of last season's starters, who fell in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) quarterfinals last season. The NAC's leading scorer and All-Conference Second Team member, Rene Hudson (Gallatin, Tenn.) returns for her junior season along with classmates Haleigh Martin (Bergenfield, N.J.), Daleia Boutwell (Dorchester, Mass.), and Jada Black (Concord, N.C.).
Sophomore Ashley Lopez (San Antonio, Texas) rounds out the Pilgrim starting five from last season.
The Pilgrims open up their 2018-19 season by traveling to in-state foe Plymouth State University on Friday evening.
