Football Edged at UNE in Pre-Varsity Action

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The New England College football team lost 35-28 at the University of New England in a pre-varsity contest on Saturday at the Blue Storm Stadium in Biddeford, Maine.

HIGHLIGHTS

The Pilgrims' offense was powered by the dual rushing threats of sophomore running back Aidan McDonald (Salem, N.H.) and freshman running back Dontrell White (Weare, N.H.), with both players rushing for two touchdowns apiece.
NEC sophomore quarterback Icean Taylor (Manchester, N.H.) kept several drives alive with his feet, and completed a number of passes on third down to freshman wide receiver Gavin Auger (Derry, N.H.).
The defense was led by freshman defensive back Ethan Cenesca (Manchester, N.H.) who was all over the field making tackles from sideline to sideline. Junior defensive back Kaevryel Madison (Concord, N.H.) came up with a huge interception and return late in the first half which set up a Pilgrim touchdown to go into the locker room at halftime tied 21-21.
Freshman defensive lineman Erik Menger (Stratham, N.H.) was tough up front with a tackle for loss. Freshman linebacker Jayman Jones (Manchester, N.H.) had a big tackle for loss late in the 4th quarter which set up the offense with a chance to drive down the field and score to tie the game up.
Freshman kicker Jackson Kirsch (Chester, N.H.) went four-for-four on extra-point attempts. Freshman defensive back Chris Morgan (Epping, N.H.) forced a fumble on a kickoff to set the Pilgrim offense up with a chance to tie the game up in the 4th quarter.

UP NEXT

NEC is back on the field next Sunday when they head to Norwich University for a 1:00 p.m. pre-varsity game against the Cadets.
