HENNIKER, N.H. - Senior defensive back Kaevryel Madison (Concord, N.H.) of the NEC football team was named the Conference of New England (CNE) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on November 16th, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Kaevryel was all over the blue turf field on Saturday against the University of New England, making 17 tackles – six solo stops and 11 assists. He ties the CNE's single-game high for the season, tying Husson's JT Wright, who also recorded 17 tackles earlier this season. Madison's mark is the most in the conference against CNE competition.
It is Madison's second consecutive game with double-digit tackles after posting 12 last week against Western New England. He also added 1.5 tackles-for-loss worth negative 8 yards. The defensive co-captain now becomes the first 'Grim to receive a CNE weekly honor this season.
Madison had 69 stops this season, which was third on the team and 11th in the conference. The team concluded their first season back on the gridiron on Saturday after a 50-year hiatus.
