Morgan’s Pick Ices Colonels in Football’s Pre-Varsity Win

MILTON, Mass. – The New England College football team won 21-14 at Curry College in pre-varsity action on Sunday at Walter M. Katz Field in Milton, Massachusetts.

HIGHLIGHTS

With Curry trailing by a touchdown and driving in the final two minutes of the game, NEC freshman defensive back Chris Morgan (Epping, N.H.) made the play of the day when he intercepted the Colonels' quarterback with 1:18 remaining, giving the 'Grims the ball back. After running a minute off the clock, NEC was able to punt with 17 seconds left and securing the win.
NEC freshman running back Dontrell White (Weare, N.H.) got the Pilgrims on the board in the second quarter with a nine yard touchdown run to put the visitors ahead 7-0.
After the 'Grims defense recovered a Colonel fumble, the NEC offense went back to work. Driving down the field, the Pilgrims punched it in from the one as sophomore running back Aidan McDonald (Salem, N.H.) picked up the touchdown. The 'Grims would go into halftime up 14-7.
Later in the third quarter with Curry driving, NEC freshman linebacker Nate Reid (Windsor, Conn.) made an outstanding play, sacking the Colonels' quarterback on third down to get the ball back at the Curry 46 after the punt return. A few plays later, sophomore quarterback Icean Taylor (Manchester, N.H.) found sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Turner (Concord, N.H.) for a 21 yard touchdown completion, giving the 'Grims 21 points on that day that proved to be enough for the final score.

UP NEXT

NEC will conclude their pre-varsity season on Sunday when they travel to Anna Maria College for a 12:00 p.m. game against the host AMCATs.
