Medford, Mass. – The New England College women's volleyball team split their Sunday tri-match at Lesley University in Medford, Massachusetts, falling short in five sets to Husson University before sweeping the host Lynx to open their New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Pilgrims took the first two sets against the Eagles, before faltering in the final three stanzas. Set scores were 17-25, 21-25, 25-21, 29-27 and 15-9 in favor of Husson.
• NEC dominated Lesley in their nightcap, with set scores of 25-5, 25-1, 25-4.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• NEC senior middle blocker Samantha Vargas (Riverside, Calif.) had an impressive day for the Pilgrims, tallying 21 kills with 31 digs and three aces.
• Junior middle blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii) finished with 16 kills and three total blocks.
• Senior defensive specialist Jaycie Kodama (Pauoa Valley, Hawaii) finished with 26 digs.
