HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 tie against visiting Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite NEC dominating possession for most of the game, it would be Eastern Nazarene who would score first, as sophomore Deeana Castro (Boise, Idaho) scored her first goal of the season in the 71st minute off a blooping shot that sailed just over the keeper's head to put the Lions ahead 1-0.
- With the Pilgrims facing the prospect of an 0-2 conference record, a broken play after a corner kick left NEC temporarily down a player. Freshman defender Brynn Murphy (Unitity, N.H.) rose to the occasion, however, backed up on the left side near the goal line, the second-year player sent a bending, off-balance shot up and in for her second goal of the season.
- Despite a flurry of action in the closing minutes, 1-1 would hold up for the final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Bronowicki (Corona, Calif.) finished the day with four saves for the Pilgrims.
- Eastern Nazarene junior goalkeeper Jasmine Arzu (Bronx, N.Y.) posted a heroic effort for the Lions, finishing with 14 saves.
- The Pilgrims outshot the Lions, 30-9, on the day.
- NEC is now 12-3-2 all-time against Eastern Nazarene.

- NEC will have a quick turnaround, as they host Tufts University, currently the seventh ranked team in the nation, on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
- Eastern Nazarene travels to Fisher College on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. game.
