Women's Soccer Falls at Home to Albertus Magnus

HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College women's soccer team fell 3-0 at home Friday afternoon to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Albertus Magnus.

The visiting Falcons tested the Pilgrims defense by firing an early shot on goal that was saved by senior goalkeeper Hollie Bomba (Seymour, Conn.). In the fourth minute of action, Tyler Stocking found the back of the net to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons kept up the offensive pressure, firing several more shots that sailed high and wide of the net. Bomba stood tall in goal, making a pair of saves for the home team. Graduate Shelby McBain (Indianhead, Md.) responded with a shot of her own that would be stopped by Falcon's goalkeeper Amy Stevens. As the teams headed into halftime, the Falcons held the 1-0 lead, backed by a 10-1 shot margin and 4-1 shots on target ratio.

The Falcons continued to pressure the 'Grims defense, firing several shots, but Bomba stood strong, turning away each attempt. In the 53rd minute, Natalya Pennant connected with Ejalam Bravo, who buried the shot to extend the Falcons lead to 2-0. The Falcons kept their offensive attack, forcing Bomba to make several more key saves for the Pilgrims. In the 75th minute, the Falcons broke through once again to make it 3-0. The Pilgrims responded as sophomore Madison Bowman (Coventry, Vt.) fired a shot that was saved by Stevens. McBain sent a shot just wide of the goal in the final seconds of play, and the Falcons closed out the match with a 3-0 win.

The Pilgrims conclude the regular season on Wednesday as they host GNAC opponent Colby-Sawyer at Don Melander Field with a 3:00 PM start.
