Box Score WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The New England College Volleyball team dropped a tight 3-0 match at Eastern Connecticut State University, in non-conference action, Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, both teams traded points. With NEC leading 8-7, the ECSU was able to string together five straight points to go up 12-8. The Pilgrims would get within two (12-10), but would eventually drop the first set 25-16, as the Warriors took the final five points.
New England College was able to jump out to an early 4-0 lead to begin the second set. Eastern was able to bounce back as they snagged the next six points. The two teams would jockey for the next few points, but with the score tied at 10-10, East Conn. struck for seven of the next eight points to go up 17-11. The Pilgrims tried to cut into the deficit, as they got within five (19-14), but the Warriors were able to pull away down the stretch to win the second set 25-15.
In the third set, Eastern was able to grab a small lead and was able to hold it until NEC tied the set up at 10-10. The Pilgrims were able to snag their first lead of the set at 12-11, but neither team would give up. ECSU was able to stay close and eventually take an 18-17 lead. The Warriors were able to hold off New England College down the stretch, as they held on to take a 26-24 win in the third set.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Amber Thi had a game-high 15 kills, while Shirita Wimberly had six kills.
- Thi extends her 10+ kills streak to seven games, after 15 tonight.
- Kenzie Barron paced the offense with 17 assists, while Jaycie Kodama had 12 digs.
- ECSU now leads the all-time series, 1-0.
