HOW IT HAPPENED
Eastern Nazarene got the scoring started in the 18th minute, as Sam Baston's shot short-hopped over the NEC goaltender, making it 1-0. The Pilgrims would answer back in the 28th minute, as Leeann Demirjian crossed the ball in from the end line, finding the head of Mackenzie Fels, who headed it into the top left corner of the cage. The Lions would pick up their second goal of the game right before halftime, as Diamond Best buried the shot that ricocheted off the crossbar.
New England College nearly tied the game in the 49th minute, as Mackenzie Daugherty's breakaway was thwarted by the ENC keeper. The Pilgrims would eventually tie the match at 2-2, as Darian Taylor's threaded the pass, finding the foot of Leeann Demirjian, who scored in the low right corner.
The game would head into overtime, but just 20 seconds into the second OT period, Shelby McBain scored the game-winner. Demirjian's pass freed McBain along the right side of the field when she was able to beat the Eastern Nazarene keeper to the right corner.
