Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. The New England College women's volleyball team heads to 2-0 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, as the Pilgrims turned aside Becker College 3-1 in Bridges Gym, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
To open the match, both teams traded the early points, before the Pilgrims took three straight points, taking a 6-3 lead. Becker would battle back, as they would eventually take the lead at 10-9. This would not last long, as New England College regained the lead at 14-13 following a Shirita Wimberly ace. NEC closed out the first set, outscoring the Hawks 9-6.
The Pilgrims carried their momentum into the second set, as they won four of the first five points. Becker College slowly chipped away at their deficit, before taking the lead at 7-6. The Hawks would hold off New England College for the remainder of the set, as they took the set 25-19.
The third set was tight throughout, as there were 13 ties, and six lead changes, but NEC was able to pull through and take the set 25-23. The fourth and final set was controlled by New England College. Despite the score being tied twice (1-1, 2-2) the Pilgrims established momentum early on. With the score in favor of NEC at 9-8, New England College rattled off six consecutive points, pushing their lead to 15-8. Down the stretch, the Pilgrims outscored the Hawks 10-4.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Tihani Ehia lead the way for the Pilgrims both offensively with 15 kills and defensively with 14 digs.
-Shirita Wimberly paced New England College with five aces on the day. This is the third time this season and the second straight match with five service aces.
-Jaycie Kodama led NEC as she tied a career-high with 21 digs.
-Maggie Dadmun and Riane Heyen both recorded 15+ assists on the day, with 23 and 15 respectively.
