HOW IT HAPPENEDThe No. 10 team in the nation was able to strike early on, as Alexa Juarez was able to score, as her shot ricocheted off the crossbar and in. Amherst kept firing away at the New England College goal but were not able to extend their lead until the 38
th minute. Isabel Stern was able to free Maya Scholnick from the NEC backline to make it 2-0.
The Mammoths were able to extend their advantage to 3-0 in the 60
th minute, as Sophia Fikke was able to cross the ball to Isabel Stern, who was able to turn and tuck the ball in the far post. Fikke picked up her third assist of the contest minutes later, as she served up the corner kick and found the head of Juarez, who made it 4-0 Amherst. The Mammoths' would tack on four more goals down the stretch to take the win.
GOALTENDERSEmily Sashko tied a career-high with 11 saves on the afternoon for New England College, while Antonia Tammaro picks up the win after recording two saves for Amherst.
