Box Score 2 HENNIKER, N.H. The New England College baseball puts up seven runs in the second inning to split the doubleheader with Lesley University in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENEDGame One Lesley University 5, New England College 4New England College jumped out on top first, as
Christian Aybar led off the bottom of the first with a double down the left field line. He would score one batter later, as Luis Atiles singled to left field. Two batters later, Xavier Nunez would drive in Atiles with a base knock to left field.
Lesley would get on the board in the top of the third, as Will Rhone scored on a Javi Martinez single to center field. The Pilgrims would answer with a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame, as Aybar crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Connor Morin. The Lynx would get within one in the top of the sixth, as Ryan Pumphret launched a solo home run over the left field fence. In the bottom half of the inning, Evan Delaney would score an insurance run for NEC, as he would score on a sac fly from Nunez.
In the top of the seventh inning, Lesley led off the inning with back-to-back hits, giving them runners on second and third. After a foul out and a ground out to score one, the Lynx took the lead with bases loaded double to deep center field off. The bottom half of the inning, the Pilgrims threatened with runners on first and second and just one out, but they could not push across the game-tying run.
Stanley Vargas went the distance for New England College scattering six hits over the 7.0 innings while striking out five on the afternoon.
Game Two New England College 10, Lesley University 2Lesley was the first team to strike in game two, as Pumphret hit his second solo home run of the day in the top of the second inning. The Lynx would not hold the lead for long, as the Pilgrims would score seven runs in the bottom of the second.
Nunez and
Jeam Castillo drew walks before Manuel Alejandro was hit by a pitch.
Anderson Jimenez knocked a single into left field to tie the game up at 1-1. Jameson Carey followed with a single to left field but advanced to second as the ball rolled under the fielder glove, scoring a pair. NEC would load the bases once again with a four-pitch walk drawn by Aybar before Jimenez would tag up on a sacrifice fly to deep right field. Morin would extend the lead for to 5-1 for the Pilgrims with a two-RBI double down the right-field line. Nunez would follow up Morin with two RBI's of his own with a single to right field.
Pumphret would strike for the third time in two games with another solo home run in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth, New England College would get a power surge, as Carey blasted a two-run shot over the left field fence. Delaney would hit his team-leading fifth home run in the top of the sixth, giving NEC the 10-2 advantage.
Joseph Pascucci got the start for the Pilgrims, as he went 6.0 innings, with seven hits and six strikeouts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS-This was the first and second meeting between NEC and Lesley in baseball. The all-time series is tied 1-1.
