Baseball Concludes Season at SJC

STANDISH, Maine – The New England College baseball team lost both ends of their double-header at Saint Joseph's College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Sunday at Mahoney Diamond in Standish, Maine. The Pilgrims – playing as the home team due to schedule changes – conclude their season with a 7-27 record.

GAME 1 – SJC 4, NEC 3 (12 INNINGS)
  • The 'Grims scored an inning each in the bottom of the second, the third and the fourth innings.
  • In the second, senior left fielder Kyle Dobrie (Mastic, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to plate junior second baseman Yeri Ramos (Loiza, P.R.), giving NEC the 1-0 lead.
  • In the third, graduate first baseman Johnny Cannavo (Weymouth, Mass.) scored from third off an error to make it 2-0.
  • In the fourth, freshman center fielder Ben Beaudoin (Meredith, N.H.) hit an RBI single to score Dobrie, giving the 'Grims a 3-0 lead.
  • A three run top of the eighth tied it up for the Monks, and they would score the eventual game-winner in the top of the twelfth.
  • NEC graduate pitcher Stephen Dunham (Manchester, N.H.) pitched seven shutout innings for the 'Grims in the final outing of his collegiate career.
GAME 2 – SJC 12, NEC 0 (7 INNINGS)
  • NEC graduate shortstop Bryce Worth (Southington, Conn.) went two-for-three in game two, accounting for 40 percent of the Pilgrims' hits in his final college game.
