HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College baseball team were handed a 13-3 home loss by visiting Johnson & Wales University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday at Laurie Cox Memorial Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wildcats put up two runs in the top of the first inning and added five in a huge third inning which was capped off by a three-run home run off the bat of Owen Davis (Bristol, Conn.) as the visitors took a commanding 7-0 lead.
- In the third, the Pilgrims quickly loaded the bases but managed to push across just one run. In the fourth, junior outfielder Ryan Cote (Goffstown, N.H.) drove in senior infielder Tyler Fenton (Wilmington, Mass.) with an RBI single. The fifth inning would get started with a hard-hit double off the wall in left field by graduate shortstop Bryce Worth (Southington, Conn.), and Worth would score two batters later on an infield single by junior infielder Yeri Ramos (Loiza, P.R.)
- Just as NEC pulled within four runs, JWU would expand their lead with a run in the seventh and five more in the top of the ninth to secure the conference victory for the Wildcats.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Senior starter Garrett Fusco (Windsor, Conn.) was effective for the Wildcats, allowing two earned runs across four innings. Brady Morin (Taunton, Mass.) earned the win in relief, allowing one run in three innings.
- Starting opposite Fusco for the 'Grims was senior pitcher Austin Hazzard (Weare, N.H.) who suffered the loss in three innings of work. Graduate reliever Nolan Stoney (Bedford, N.H.) followed Hazzard with five innings of one-hit, one-run ball.
- Worth had his best game at the plate so far this season, going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a run scored.
- Outfielders Kyle Dobrie (Mastic, N.Y.) and Benoit Beaudoin (Meredith, N.H.) each tallied two hits on the day.
- NEC outhit JWU, 13-12, on the day but lagged behind with 13 runners left on base to the Wildcats' nine.
