HOW IT HAPPENED
Both squads managed to get players on base in the first inning but no one crossed the plate.
Christian Aybar in the top of the second inning, doubled down the left field line to give the Pilgrims a 2-0 edge.
Joe Maestu scored Luis Atiles on a sacrifice fly to add an insurance run in the top of the sixth. A balk by the Spartan pitcher brought home Aybar to extend the lead to four in the top of the seventh inning. The pilgrims batted around in the top of the ninth inning and tacked on seven runs to blow open the score. The Spartans managed to plate two runs in the bottom half of the inning but the lead was too much to overcome. The Pilgrims grinded out 11 hits in the contest.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
