Box Score QUINCY, Mass. The New England College women's volleyball team 2019 season comes to an end, as the Pilgrims fall to Eastern Nazarene College 3-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference Championship match, Sunday afternoon in the Lahue Physical Education Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, the two teams would trade the first few points of the match, but with the score tied at 3-3, the Lions won nine of the next 10 points to go up 12-4. Eastern Nazarene continued to pull away down the stretch of the first set as the picked up the win in the first set, 25-9.
In the second set, the Pilgrims were able to stick with the Lions throughout the second set as neither team was able to have more than a two-point until NEC took a 22-19 lead following a kill from Dreka Griffin. New England was able to battle back and finish off the second set with a kill from Tihani Ehia.
Eastern Nazarene was able to jump out to an 8-2 lead to begin the third set. The Pilgrims were able to rally to get within one, following a 4-0 run. The Lions slowly pulled away down the stretch, but the Pilgrims kept the score within five for the majority of the set. New England College drew within two when ENC was able to take the third set 25-22.
In the fourth set, the Lions were able to start fast, as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead. NEC was able to slowly claw their way back into the match, as they got within four (12-8). Eastern Nazarene would string together four-consecutive points, to go up eight (16-8). New England College tried to slowly chip away at the deficit and send the match to a fifth set, but an NEC attack error clinched the NECC Title for Eastern Nazarene College.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the first time that the Pilgrims has played in the conference championship, after starting up the program in 2017.
-Ehia and Jaycie Kodama were named to the NECC All-Tournament Team.

New England College season comes to a close at 14-12, while the Lions will head on to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
