Box Score WENHAM, Mass.-The New England College women's soccer team dropped a nonconference matchup to Gordon College on Wednesday evening by a 6-1 score.
The loss drops the Pilgrims to 2-4 overall, while the Fighting Scots improve to 2-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Nearly the first 20 minutes were scoreless but the Fighting Scots had been knocking on the doorstep. Kayla Pugliese (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) made five saves in that span to keep the scoreless tie but Lexi Potter beat Pugliese on her right side to open the scoring. Potter would score her second of the contest eight minutes later after she received a
pass in the middle of the field, she beat the challenging Pugliese.
Pugliese closed out the half making six saves on eight shots on goal for the Pilgrims. Sierra Wilson (Winthrop, Maine) would come on to start the second half. Emily Rodriguez beat Wilson in the 47
th minute of the contest on her right side. The Fighting Scots would add two more goals, one from Potter to complete the hat trick and one from Rodriguez, to extend their lead.
Michaela Pomeroy (Thetford, Vt.) would be the lone offensive tally for the Pilgrims as she found the back of the net in the 74
th minute for her first goal of the season. Alexa Zayas (Lynn, Mass.) was credited with the assist which marks the first assist and point of her collegiate career. The Fighting Scots would add a goal in the 87
th minute.
GOALKEEPERS
Pugliese, Wilson, and Emily Sashko (Mayfield, Penn.) combined to make nine saves for the Pilgrims on 15 shots on goal. Pugliese gets credited with the loss and is 1-4 on the season. Giselle Maso and Addy Gibney would combine to make three saves on four shots on goal. Maso earned the win and is 2-3 on the season.

The Pilgrims will travel to Becker College for their New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) debut on Saturday at 11 a.m.
