HENNIKER, N.H.—New England College field hockey forward
Kate Roberge (Essex, Vt.) finished with three goals and an assist leading the Pilgrims past the visiting Lasell College Lasers 7-0 Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Pilgrims improve to 5-7 overall and 4-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. The loss drops the Lasers to 2-10 on the season and 1-6 in the NAC.
NEC would open the scoring early as Roberge would one-time in a pass from
Emily Kuchta (Norwalk, Conn.) just 7:33 into the game. NEC would tack on three additional first half goals, including a rebound by
Rachel Carnaroli (Bellingham, Mass.) and two goals by Jen Adams (Brimfield, Mass.), heading into halftime up 4-0.
The Pilgrims would continue the offensive attack in the second half as Roberge would net two goals in the opening ten minutes of play. NEC's
Katherine Rich (Westborough, Mass.) would get into the scoring column as she would net her second goal of the season unassisted at the 51:46 mark.
The Pilgrims finished the game out shooting the Lasers 38-4.
Leading the way for Lasell was Hannah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) who finished with two shots on goal.
Picking up the win in goal for NEC was
Mary Roux (Hillsborough, N.H.) who recorded three saves. Splitting time in net for Lasell was Christine Thornton (Canton, Mass.) who finished with an impressive 13 saves and Grace Amato (Sharon, Vt.) who stopped nine Pilgrim shots.
New England College returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 13 when they host non-conference opponent Worcester State College. Lasell will travel to take on Regis College on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
