Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – The New England College men's basketball team lost 94-77 at Mitchell College on Saturday at the Yarnall Athletic Center in New London, Connecticut, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

TURNING POINTS
- The Mariners went into halftime up 48-38, enjoying a 16-4 edge in bench scoring behind Mitchell junior guard Walker Baillargeon (Norwich, Conn.) who accounted for all 16 points as the game's leading scorer to that point.
- Early in the second half, the Pilgrims pulled to within six off a three-pointer from NEC senior guard Theisen Lee (Cincinnati, Ohio). With 14:49 to go in the game, a pair of free throws by NEC senior guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.) and the score 56-51. But the hosts answered with an 8-0 run capped off by a layup from Mitchell junior guard Eddie Volkerts (New London, Conn.) to put the Mariners back in control. NEC was unable to threaten again.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Williams led the 'Grims with 23 points on the day, shooting 50 percent from the floor.
- Lee finished with 16 points for NEC, going three-of-six from behind the arc and pulling down six boards.
- Volkerts led Mitchell with 29 points and 13 rebounds while Baillargeon finished with a game-high 31 points.
- NEC sophomore center Aiden MacLeod (Wilmington, Mass.) overcame foul trouble to post a career-high 14 points for the Pilgrims, shooting six-of-eleven from the floor with two blocks. NEC graduate guard Nick Gomeau (Enfield, Conn.) added 13 points and eight boards.
- Points off turnovers proved decisive for the Mariners, as they held a 26-15 edge.
