Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's ice hockey team lost to visiting Vermont State University-Castleton on Friday at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior forward Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.) got the scoring started with a last-minute goal in the first period. Assisted by junior forward Olivia Lindberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and junior forward Kate Devlin (Walpole, Mass.), Gilchrist found the back of the net to give the Pilgrims a one-goal advantage heading into the locker room.
- It took only three minutes and nine seconds in the second for the Spartans to strike back as Rachel McNeil tipped the puck in off a shot from Rainey Lay. Alex Johnson was also credited with an assist. Two and a half minutes later, Codi Baker scored off a pass from Megan Ward to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead. It took just under four minutes for Castleton to score again. Emery Bonner scored with a shot in the slot off a pass from Taylor Adams.
- Lindberg took a pass from Gilchrist and nailed the top shelf with a stick-side wrist shot to draw the Pilgrims within one with just over five minutes to go in the second frame. Halfway through the third, Moa Carlsson found the back of the net to give Castleton a second two-goal lead with just ten minutes to go in the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore goaltender Lucy Armour (Falmouth, Mass.) saved 46 of the 50 shots from the Spartans.
- Castleton's Victoria Bakopanos stopped 13 of the 15 shots she faced to earn the win.
- Shots on goal were 50-15 in favor of the Spartans.
