HENNIKER, N.H. - Freshman forward Pnina Basov (Ma'alot, Israel) of the NEC women's ice hockey team was named the Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending on December 14th. 

Basov earns the team's first Rookie of the Week honor this season in the final week of competition in the 2025 calendar year. The freshman tallied two points in a tough 4-3 loss at Buffalo State on Saturday, scoring her second career goal and connecting on her first assist in her rookie campaign.  

Her goal came six minutes into a third period that saw five goals scored between the two teams. She initially gave the Pilgrims a 2-1 lead as she broke the 1-1 tie with her score. The rookie also went 10-10 on faceoffs on Saturday, and an even 15-15 on the week. She is 30-27 on faceoffs this season.  

Pnina has now scored both of her career goals on the road, having scored her first against #14 Norwich in mid-November. The team will hit the road once again on January 9th and 10th as they travel to the University of Southern Maine for a resumption of Little East play. In the meantime, Basov and the Pilgrims will take a 2-4 conference record into the Winter Break for the holiday season.
