BRIDGTON, Maine – The New England College alpine ski teams competed at Pleasant Mountain in Bridgton, Maine on Saturday and Sunday, facing teams from Saint Joseph's College of Maine, the University of Maine Farmington, Bowdoin College, Bates College, Colby-Sawyer College and others throughout the Reynolds Division. Both the Saturday and Sunday races were Giant Slaloms.
TOP 'GRIMS
- NEC graduate Malin Alusic-Bingham continued to dominate in her second competition. The graduate-transfer took first place in Saturday's Giant Slalom, with times of 44.47 and 45.03 for a total of 1:29.50. She continued to impress on Sunday, taking first place with times of 44.71 / 43.95 / 1:28.66.
- NEC freshman Owen Kizak (Manchester, N.H.) recovered from a rough start on Saturday to clock times of 48.91 / 45.36 / 1:34.27 on Sunday, good for 20th place, best on the day.
- NEC sophomore Lorelei Holloway (Ashland, Va.) clocked times of 52.09 / 53.31 / 1:45.40, tying for 16th place. On Sunday she posted marks of 52.18 / 50.11 / 1:42.29, again for 16th place.
- NEC sophomore Hogan Bemis (Stow, Maine) was the Pilgrim men's top finisher on Saturday, finishing with times of 46.24 and 46.57 for a total of 1:32.81, good for 16th place. On Sunday, the sophomore posted a time of 44.39 before a DNF ended his day.
- NEC senior Madeline Ten Kate (Dryden, N.Y.) finished in 20th place on Saturday with times of 53.31 / 54.10 / 1:47.41. She followed that up on Sunday with a 23rd place finish, posting times of 55.01 / 53.22 / 1:48.23.
- NEC junior Robert Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.) crossed the finish on Saturday with time's of 47.02 and 47.76 for a total of 1:34.78, good for 19th place. Sunday saw him post times of 49.66 and 47.54, totaling 1:37.20 for 21st place.
- NEC freshman Peyton Holmes (Hooksett, N.H.) had times of 56.65 / 56.50 / 1:53.15 on Saturday and 58.60 / 56.69 / 1:55.29 on Sunday, both good for 26th place.
- NEC senior Zac Lacasse (Hudson, N.H.) had times of 51.39 / 50.45 / 1:41.84 on Saturday to come in at 25th place. His Sunday times of 54:45 / 48.01 / 1:42.46 saw him finish in 28th place.
- NEC senior Abby Duffy (Concord, N.H.) had times of 1:00.57 / 1:00.85 / 2:01.42 on Saturday and 1:02.27 / 58.94 / 2:01.21 on Sunday, both good for 30th place.
- NEC graduate Colin Shaw (Colebrook, N.H.) came in with times of 54.43 / 53.66 / 1:48.09 on Saturday to finish in 30th. His Sunday times were , 53.36 / 50.54 / 1:44.21, good for 29th.
SENIOR DAY
Prior to the start of the meet on Saturday, the Reynolds Division allowed attending teams to recognize their senior classes as part of senior day. Lacasse, Duffy and Ten Kate were recognized by the Pilgrims not only for all of their accomplishments on the slopes but throughout the community as well. Although their time with the program may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the 'Grims family.
