Alpine Ski Opens 2025 Season at Sugarloaf

SUGARLOAF, Maine – The New England College alpine ski teams opened their 2025 season at Sugarloaf Mountain in a meet hosted by University of Maine Farmington on Friday and Saturday at Sugarloaf Mountain in Sugarloaf, Maine.

TOP 'GRIMS

NEC graduate Malin Alusic-Bingham (Antrim, N.H.) made a spectacular debut for the 'Grims on Friday, taking first place in the women's grand slalom with a combined time of 1:38.59, nearly 2.5 seconds ahead of her closest rival. Alusic-Binghham finished with a time of 1:18.17 on Saturday, good for seventh place.
NEC sophomore Hogan Bemis (Stow, Maine) clocked an impressive 1:40.22 in the men's grand slalom on Friday, good for 17^th place. Bemis improved on that placing with a combined time of 1:10.70 on Saturday, coming in at 11^th place.
NEC sophomore Lorelei Holloway (Ashland, Va.) posted a time of 1:50.76 during Friday's slalom, good for 13^th place. She followed that up on Saturday with a 1:24.24, placing in 15^th.
NEC freshman Owen Kizak (Manchester, N.H.) had a strong debut for the Pilgrims in his first collegiate action, coming in with a time of 1:45.40 on Friday and 1:19.85 on Saturday, good for 17^th and 20^th places respectively.
NEC senior Madeline Ten Kate (Dryden, N.Y.), last season's top performer for the 'Grims, posted a time of 2:00.75 (22^nd place) on Friday and 1:31.71 (18^th place) on Saturday.
NEC junior Robert Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.) came in 18^th place on Friday (1:45.78) and 24^th place on Saturday (1:22.75).
NEC freshman Peyton Holmes (Hooksett, N.H.) brought up the rear for the Pilgrim women, coming in 25^th place on Friday (2:06.66) and 23^rd place (1:39.78) on Saturday.
NEC senior Zac Lacasse (Hudson, N.H.) finished with a time of 1:47.41 (19^th place) on Friday and 1:24.92 (25^th place) on Saturday.
NEC graduate Colin Shaw (Colebrook, N.H.) posted times of 1:52.86 and 1:27.48 over the two day event.

UP NEXT

NEC is back on the slopes next weekend when they travel to Pleasant Mountain in Bridgton, Maine for a meet hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
