HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College freshman defender Greta Grant (Brownfield, Maine) of the NEC women's ice hockey team was named the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending on December 8th.
Grant recorded two points on the week in the team's two games against Keene State over the weekend. On Friday night, Grant was credited with her second assist of the season on the team's first goal that was scored by sophomore forward Samantha Babbitt (Weathersfield, Vt.) In the rematch on Saturday, the rookie scored the first goal of her career in a narrow loss to the Owls.
Grant now has three points (one goal and two assists) on the season from the defensive back line, while also ranking second on the team in blocked shots. The rookie defender will look to continue building on her freshman campaign when the team returns to action following the start of the New Year on January 3rd when they host Anna Maria College at 6:00 in non-conference play.
