HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's soccer team formally announced their schedule for the 2023 season on Monday.
The 2023 season marks NEC's first season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). The Pilgrims are coming off winning the 2022 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship for the second consecutive year, reaching the NCAA Championship Tournament.
NEC will open their season on Friday, September 1
st at Plymouth State University in a 5:00 p.m. start time. The 'Grims then host Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday, September 3
rd in their home opener. The team will play their first GNAC contest in school history on Wednesday, September 6
th at Albertus Magnus College.
Other key dates on the schedule include Saturday, October 7
th when the team hosts rival Mitchell College in a rematch of last season's NECC semifinal, where the Pilgrims advanced on penalty kicks in a hotly contested 0-0 result. Then on Wednesday, October 11
th, the team travels to the University of Saint Joseph to face the reigning GNAC Champion Blue Jays.
Despite the loss of several seniors from last year's storied senior class, the Pilgrims return an impressive core of veterans including senior forward
Logan Cassin (Penacook, N.H.), a 2022 NECC All-Conference selection, junior midfielder
William Scala (Manchester, N.H.), the 2022 NECC All-Tournament Most Valuable Player, and junior goalkeeper
Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) who set the NEC record for saves in a single season last year.
