Blue Jays Prove Too Much for Men’s Soccer

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The New England College men's soccer team fell to the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

The top ranked Blue Jays entered the day with an undefeated 8-0-2 record in GNAC play and they played up to their billing on Saturday. USJ took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of the game and never looked back.

Saint Joseph would add on to their lead in the 40th, 67th, and 89th minutes for the 4-0 win over the Pilgrims and secure their ninth conference win of the season while clinching the top seed in the GNAC tournament.

USJ outshot NEC, 24-9, and had a 10-4 advantage in shots on net. Junior Matt Guzman (San Bernardino, Calif.) played about 73 minutes in goal for the Pilgrims with five saves and three goals allowed while junior Kyle Butts (Lee, N.H.) made one save and conceded one goal over the last 17 minutes of relief.

The Pilgrims will play their final game of the 2025 regular season on Wednesday, October 29th, on the road against Norwich University with a 4:00 PM start.
