Men’s Soccer Falls to Norwich in Season Finale

Northfield, Vt. - The New England College men's soccer team's season came to an end on Wednesday evening as a 2-0 loss to Norwich officially eliminated them from playoff contention on the final day of the regular season.

After a scoreless first half, Norwich broke the 0-0 tie in the 59th minute as Shea Perkins headed in a corner kick from Tavis Wallace that went just over the outstretched hands of junior Matt Guzman (San Bernardino, Calif.) in net. Guzman would end the game with two saves.

With about 9:30 left to play, freshman Eddy Nyemah (Manchester, N.H.) put a shot on net, but it was saved by Norwich goalkeeper Kirk Rodgers. A few minutes later, senior Noel Huliselan (Jakarta, Indonesia) sent in a rocket of a shot towards the top left corner of the box, but Rodgers once again made the stop to keep the Pilgrims off the board.

The Cadets added onto their lead with another goal with just 17 seconds left in the game as Nick Depeppe secured the 2-0 Norwich win. The hosts managed just four shots on net in the contest but made the most of their opportunities in the win.

For the Pilgrims, they end the season with a 7-8-3 record with a conference mark of 3-7-2, falling just short of the GNAC postseason tournament.
