NEW LONDON, Conn. – The New England College men's basketball team saw their 2022-2023 season come to an end in the finals of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) championship tournament as they fell 109-85 to top-seeded Mitchell College on Saturday evening at the Yarnall Athletic Center in New London, Connecticut.

STANDOUTS
  • Sophomore guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.), arguably the Pilgrims' most consistent player throughout the season, put up one of the best games of his career, leading NEC with 21 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
  • Mitchell senior guard Mikey Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) led all scorers with 29 points, hitting eight three-pointers on the night.
  • NEC freshman guard Junior Efosa (Haverhill, Mass.) picked the biggest game of his young career to shine with a career-high 15 points with eight rebounds.
  • NEC freshman guard Jasen Stovall (Tampa, Fla.), the NECC Rookie of the Year, finished with 13 points and four rebounds.
  • Mitchell senior guard Alfonzo Stokes (Bloomfield, Conn.) posted a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds for the Mariners.
  • NEC senior guard Kyle Inglis (Burlington, Mass.), a first-time NECC All-Conference selection this season, played his final collegiate game, totaling 12 points and three steals.
  • Williams and Inglis were named to the NECC All-Tournament team.
  • Three-point shooting proved decisive as the Mariners made 54.5 percent of their shots from behind the arc.
