BOSTON, Mass. – The New England College women's ice hockey team lost in a tight contest at UMass-Boston on Saturday afternoon at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink in Boston, Massachusetts in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.  

THE BASICS

Records: Pilgrims 0-6-0, 0-4-0 NEHC | Beacons 2-2-2, 1-2-1 NEHC 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The Beacons scored the game's only goal that happened in the second period when sophomore forward Emily Hansen (Lake Villa, Ill.) got the honors while junior forward Allie Reifler (Binghamton, N.Y.) was in on the assist. 
• For the 'Grims, sophomore defenders Gabrielle Iwinski (Batavia, Ill) and Jodan Pond (Gardner, Mass.) led the team with eight shots each. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

• NEC graduate goaltender Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) had a solid performance on her end as she came away with 26 saves. 
• UMass-Boston sophomore goaltender Leah Bosch (Minnetonka, Minn.) ended the afternoon with tallying 35 saves. 
• Despite the loss, the 'Grims came away with a 35-27 advantage on total shots on goal. 
• NEC also won in the battle of faceoff, beating out the Beacons 37-24. 
• Both teams had 13 blocked shots in the tight game.

• NEC is back on the ice on Friday, November 17th when they face the Spartans of Vermont State University-Castleton in conference-play at the Lee Clement Arena with puck-drop at 6:00 PM.
