Mitchell Surges Past Men’s Hoops in NECC Action

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's basketball team lost 78-52 to visiting Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.

TURNING POINTS

The Pilgrims took their first and only lead of the game off a three-pointer from junior guard Kyle Inglis (Burlington, Mass.) with 13:05 to go in the first half with NEC leading 10-9. The continued to keep it close through halftime, trailing just 34-29 at the break.
In the second half, the Mariners pulled away. A 13-2 run put them up by twenty and the 'Grims were unable to threaten after that.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

NEC freshman guard Jasen Stovall (Tampa, Fla.), the reigning NECC Rookie of the Week, led the 'Grims with ten points, two rebounds and a block.
Mitchell senior guard Alfonzo Stokes (Bloomfield, Conn.) dominated with 29 points and five rebounds, shooting 60 percent from inside the arc.
NEC sophomore guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.) pulled down eight boards with six points, two assists, a steal and a block.
Mitchell senior guard Jalen Benson (New London, Conn.) added 11 points, four rebounds and three steals for the Mariners.
NEC junior forward Alex Jean (Peabody, Mass.) scored seven points with six boards for the 'Grims in arguably his best game on his career.
