Gorham, Maine – The New England College men's soccer team lost 2-0 at the University of Southern Maine in non-conference action on Thursday evening at Hannaford Field in Gorham, Maine.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a scoreless first half, USM senior midfielder Orlando Herrera (Milbridge, Maine) broke the stalemate in the 56^th minute with a volley just inside far post for his first goal of the season. Then in the 76^th minute, senior midfielder Zekariya Shaib (Portland, Maine) scored the insurance goal for the Huskies to put the game away. Junior defenseman William Smith (Northborough, Mass.) assisted on both scores.

• NEC sophomore goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) tallied six saves for the 'Grims, while USM senior goalkeeper Hayes Estrella (Kennebunk, Maine) picked up the shutout with three saves.
