Men's Basketball Pull Away From Elms College, 101-79

Box Score HENNIKER, NH. The New England College men's basketball team record 20+ steals in consecutive games, as they defeated Elms College 101-79 in New England Collegiate Conference action, Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Pilgrims move to 11-5 and 3-1 in NECC action, while the Blazers fall to 5-11 and 1-2 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pilgrims claimed a 7-2 lead just under two minutes, a lead they would never relinquish. A few minutes later New England College was able to extend their lead to 21-9 as they maintained control of the game. Halfway through the period, the Blazers were able to cut the lead down some as the score stood at 28-22. NEC then took a 7-2 run to bring the lead to 35-24 with eight minutes remaining. The Pilgrims were able to extend their lead to 16 at one point and were ahead 52-41 at the end of the first.

New England College opened up the second half with back-to-back threes from Calvin Cheek and then Stephen Fama as they found themselves up 58-41 for their largest lead of the game. NEC kept rolling, as Elms could not get much going but was able to hang around. The Pilgrims kept building as they held a 23-point lead at 85-62 with eight minutes left in regulation. New England College finished strong for a 101-79 win in a game that they controlled from start to finish.

-Stephen Fama led all scorers with 24 points and pulled a game-high 7 rebounds.
-Calvin Cheek filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals.
-The Pilgrims saw 11 different scorers in the winning effort and 4 different players hit double-digits.
-New England College had 20 steals for 37 points off Elms' turnover, compared to allowing just 14.
-With the win, NEC is now 3-0 all-time against Elms.
